Technical design development and technical specifications
You have a clear idea of how the product should look, the design has been determined, and the technical details are drawn out. Proceeding to technical design development, this drawing acts as the main form of communication between the designer and production.
The main difference between a technical drawing and an artistic one is that it is not shown on a body. Emphasis is placed on the construction of the future product, providing a view of the front and back. The drawing can be done by hand or with the use of CAD tools in black and white.
All details, finishing stitches, plackets, and pockets are included in the drawing, and all important technical components for the treatment of the product are specified. Designer comments can be included with the drawing, indicating key measurements which will then be taken into account when creating the product's pattern blocks.
The technical drawing is accompanied by a description of the sample, specifying the style, materials, and notions. Features such as the distance between and number of buttons, the location of pockets, welts, buckles, plackets, finishing seams, etc. must also be indicated.
The technical drawing maximizes our ability to calculate labor costs for the sample and provide an estimate of the cost of the product.
